The construction laboratory at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences deals with the following research areas:

Building material technology investigations

  • Formulation development for high-performance concretes
  • Fresh and hardened concrete tests
  • Fire protection tests

Contact: FH‐Prof. DI Dr. Martin Schneider

Analysis of the load-bearing behavior of components

  • Fracture tests on components under static and cyclic loading
  • Beam and plate-like components with a span of up to approx. 8.00 m
  • Numerical simulation taking into account non-linear material models

Contact: FH‐Prof. DI Dr. Norbert Randl

Fastening technology and structural reinforcement

  • Load-bearing behavior of dowel systems
  • Bond behavior of reinforcing bars
  • Subsequent reinforcement connection
  • Subsequent reinforcement of concrete structures with concrete topping, CFRP strips, bonded anchors, etc.

Contact: FH‐Prof. DI Dr. Norbert Randl

Building physics investigations

Timber Construction

  • Structural timber construction and connection technology (in particular detachable connections in line with the circular economy)
  • Dematerialisation and structural optimisation of components for resource efficiency
  • Sustainability strategies in timber construction, with a particular focus on circular value creation and ecological assessment

Contact: FH-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Techn. Richard Woschitz
