Lazar Azdejkovic obtained his five-year master of engineering degree from University of Belgrade and his joint masters degree in earthquake engineering from the Instituto di Studi Superiori (IUSS) Pavia, University of Patras, University Grenoble 1 and Middle East Technical University. He obtained his PhD degree at University of Patras under the scope of the H2020-MSCA project – ETN DuRSAAM (Durable, Reliable and Sustainable Structures with Alkali-Activated Materials). The research covered the topic at three different scales: micro – the geopolymer material mix design, meso – AAM-TRM which included the durability study of different textiles embedded in a geopolymer matrix, and large – application of the OPC- and AAM-based TRM jackets in strengthening of URM walls and shear-deficient columns which were tested in cyclic loading, which resulted in a PhD thesis titled as “Seismic Retrofitting with Alkali-Activated Textile Reinforced Mortar (AAM-TRM)”. As an engineer he worked in the industry mainly in the structural design of the industrial buildings and supporting structures as well as in geotechnical engineering. Lazar’s interests are mostly related earthquake engineering, sustainable construction, strengthening of existing structures, and concrete technology.
