Norbert Randl studied civil engineering at the University of Innsbruck, where he also completed his doctoral studies in structural engineering. He has held the professorship for Solid and Steel Construction at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences since 2007 and, in addition to heading the construction laboratory, has also been responsible for R&D in the Civil Engineering & Architecture department since 2021. His research focuses on the day behaviour of high-performance to ultra-high-strength concretes and reinforcement and fastening technology. He is an active member of the Austrian Technical Standards Committee for Concrete, Reinforced Concrete and Prestressed Concrete, the International Concrete Institute (fib) and the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN).

Peter Druml trained as a chemical engineer in microanalysis and worked in petrology (bitumen research). He also has experience as a quality assurance manager in road construction.

Since 2002, he has been responsible for teaching and research support at the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences in the construction laboratory for building materials technology and has specialised knowledge in the fields of building diagnostics and cathodic corrosion protection, among others. He also participates in research projects.

He obtained a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Udine and a PhD in civil engineering as part of an inter-university doctoral programme at the Universities of Trieste and Udine. His doctoral studies were supported by a scholarship from Carinthia University of Applied Sciences (CUAS). His main research interests concern materials for structural retrofitting, the integration of textile fabrics and fibres with concrete, and retrofitting measures for existing buildings.

He is a member of the ‘Ordine degli ingegneri di Roma’. His research interests include innovative materials, innovative testing methods and the rehabilitation of existing structures.
